What duty must I perform while on strike?
We require four hours duty every week. This can be picket duty, and you can also work alternatively in the kitchen, video crew, or as a runner or other duty as assigned by the Strike Desk. Call the Strike Desk at (817) 282-0294 for duty.
How can I sign up for strike duty?
Call the Strike Desk at (817) 282-0294 for duty, or come by the Union Hall at 98 W. Hurst Blvd. in Hurst.
Can I volunteer beyond my strike duty?
You bet! There’s always work that can be done. Just stop by the Union Hall, or call the strike desk at (817) 282-0294 for more information.
Can I bring my cell phone, still camera or video camera with me on the picket line?
Yes! Having extra cameras if an incident takes place is always helpful. If you catch an incident on camera, get with the strike desk.
Can I bring my children/family with me to walk the picket line?
We believe that this strike is about families. It is good to explain to your children why we are making sacrifices today for a better tomorrow. You can bring your family to take a turn at the picket line, but it is at the discretion of the Strike Coordinators and the Picket Captains. Safety is a major concern, and it may be that you would be asked to walk at a low-traffic gate or on weekends when the traffic is slower. Weekends would be a great time for the family to walk picket.
I am not a member of UAW 218, but can I walk picket with you or help in any other way?
Certainly! We are asking for the support of our local community. Just check in at the Strike Desk in the main hall at 98 W. Hurst Blvd. in Hurst.
